Description

”No Head" is about living life in the present moment, navigating life together & telling African stories. Dorothy Ooko, when not doing a full-time job in communications, facilitates a course at Google called Search Inside Yourself (SIY). The head is host to all our thoughts, our concerns, our biases, fears & insecurities that invariably get in the way of our being fully present to life. “No Head” is about awakening our real identity, our true authentic unadulterated uncontaminated identity -- that identity which is our true self. That identity which leaves our assumptions, our judgments, our biases behind and allows us to tune in more deeply into the present, to avoid getting lost in our thoughts about the past or the future and helps us stay in touch with our experiences as they unfold moment by moment. This is what mindfulness is all about…Make sure you subscribe to the podcast on Google Podcast, Apple Podcasts, Castbox, Stitcher and check the website www.nohead.space so you never miss an episode.
This podcast will have a new episode every Tuesday...stay tuned!

In this episode we talk about taking control of your life and living it on your terms. We delve into the lessons life throws our way, from challenges to triumphs and unpack the concept of decolonizing the mind, shedding societal expectations to discover your true essence. Masculinity in Africa takes center stage, as we explore what men are looking for and what they need. And spoiler alert, it's not love! But true strength often lies in forgiveness. We discuss the importance of extending grace to our parents, acknowledging their flaws while appreciating their love. Join us as we embark on this journey with a special guest who's making a real difference – Dr Mzamo Masito, CMO, Google in Africa, pan-Africanist par excellence and founder of African Men Care (https://africanmencare.com/). Get ready to learn, grow, and perhaps even confront some long-held beliefs.
My guest today is Alice Ng’ang’a. She planned to climb Batian, the highest peak of Mt Kenya, but when she reached Nelion, the second highest peak, her intuition told her to stop even though Batian was just 200m away and it would have taken her 90 minutes to get there. Her story reinforces the old saying “trust your gut”. You might wonder whether you should put so much trust in a feeling, an instinct you can't explain. Listen on to Alice’s adventure as she shares lessons on being present and how in our hurry we may miss the beauty around us …. https://linktr.ee/Noheadpodcast

I wanted to end the year with this episode with a gratitude practice. It seems like everyone is focused on ushering in 2022. It has been the second year of living with this pandemic. As we come to the end of the year it’s easy for us to focus on what we don’t have or what hasn’t worked for us or on what we’ve lost–a relationship, our health, a job or the wellbeing of someone close to us. Sometimes to live is an act of courage…

What does it mean to really breathe? When l tell people that mindfulness meditation is about breathing, they often chuckle… but we all breathe… But do we really understand what it means to breathe and why it's important.
